What If Your Child’s Birthday Could Change a Life Like Loretta’s Did?
This year, five-year-old Loretta celebrated her birthday in a truly special way. Instead of gifts, Loretta and her family asked for donations to support education in Uganda through Joy For Humanity, and the impact was remarkable. With the help of their generous family and friends, they raised more than £500, enough to:
- Fully sponsor a child’s education for a year, and
- Provide school supplies and learning resources for other children in Kyazanga, Uganda.
In Uganda, many children face steep challenges accessing basic education. Only 1 in 4 children who start primary school go on to complete secondary school, and over a million children drop out before finishing their early years of learning.
Thanks to Loretta’s birthday campaign, one more child can now stay in school, and others have received the materials they need to thrive.
That’s a gift that lasts far longer than anything wrapped in paper.
A Young Sponsor, A Lasting Legacy
Loretta has now joined us as one of Joy For Humanity’s youngest sponsors. Her parents hope to make this a yearly tradition, and one day, take Loretta to Uganda to see the change she’s helped create.
We are so proud to celebrate her as a young changemaker, a shining example of how compassion can start early and ripple outward in powerful ways.
Loretta’s incredible story gently reflects that birthdays can be a stepping stone to lifelong kindness and generosity, and bring moments of joy and purpose. Whether it’s a donation in place of a present or a conversation about giving back, every act of kindness matters.
If you’d like to explore how your child’s next celebration could support children’s education, we’re here to help you make it meaningful.
